Police wait outside the Chiang Rai hotel overnight. Inside, the suspect has locked himself inside a room. Police, who were accompanied by a rental car operator, knocked on the room door and when Mr Thanakorn opened it they asked him about the car. Police said Mr Thanakorn had finally set a condition for his surrender - his runaway wife must come to meet him first. Police said the rental agency Lucky Co had complained that Mr Thanakorn hired a car in Chiang Rai on July 28 and had not returned it.
